CHRISTIAN
CULLEN
RESOURCE COACH
Christian is a rugby great who represented the New Zealand All Blacks in 58 test matches. He remains the all-time leading try scorer in the Tri Nations Series, with 16. He was also the first player to score a try in every tri-nations test in one season. He is the most-capped All Black fullback, and retired from the All Blacks at the time as their leading Test try scorer with 46; the latter record has since been surpassed by All Black team mate, Doug Howlett. Christian scored in excess of 150 first-class tries whilst in New Zealand and is still the third highest tryscorer in the history of Super rugby with 56 tries. Christian is also widely regarded as a 7s great and it was in the shortened version of the game that he stamped his initial mark on the rugby world at the Hong Kong 7s. He also played a key role in New Zealand winning a gold medal at the 1998 Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur.
Christian will attend ESA on an advisory role where his expertise in 7s and backline play in 15s will prove invaluable for the students. He will also lecture on 'Life as a professional' giving his personal accounts of his career and allowing students an insight into these times, both good and bad. Christian will be attending the first week of the ESA programme.
